Program Director

Panagora Group, a woman-owned small business specializing in global health and international development, seeks an experienced Global Health professional for the role of Program Director for a full-time position in our home office in Silver Spring, Maryland. Candidates will have experience working with USAID managing donor-funded global health projects. The director will also make significant contributions to new business development, in particular technical conceptualization and writing; carry out technical assignments; and startup and oversee health activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of Panagora’s work in global health
  • Lead development and implementation of annual activity work plans and budgets
  • Monitor and support activity performance via regular tracking of financial and program reports, M&E data, communication with field teams, and periodic supervisory travel
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Serve as liaison with clients and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Provide activity updates and stories for marketing and communications purposes
  • Ensure short-term assignment are staffed and carried out as planned, including through clear scopes of work, high-quality personnel, and facilitative oversight
  • Draft regular donor reports and annual activity reports
  • Support new business development in health technical area, providing leadership in technical conceptualization and writing, recruitment of high-quality technical personnel, and contributions to other sections
  • Actively support and represent Panagora’s mission and values in conduct and communications
  • Represent Panagora periodically at conferences, meetings, and events
  • Mentor staff to ensure high levels of motivation, commitment, capacity, and teamwork


  • Master’s degree in public health or an advanced degree in a relevant field
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with USAID health programming
  • Experience with integrated health and private sector health programming
  • Demonstrated project management skills at a leadership level in a USAID context
  • Strong track record to lead and support winning proposals including the ability to conceptualize and write technical proposals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Experience living and working in a developing country
  • Proficiency in one or more foreign languages
