Providing Technical Assistance to USAID/South Africa and Partners

Over the course of a week in September 2022, Panagora’s Health Facility Quality Improvement Support Linnetie Mugore visited several public health facilities with USAID/South Africa team members in King Cetshwayo district, located on the east coast of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal province. USAID is implementing one of the largest PEPFAR programs in South Africa, which seeks to achieve HIV epidemic control and support the country’s National Department of Health to provide high-quality HIV and TB services. These site visits are conducted to support USAID’s implementing partners working hand-in-hand with the Department of Health (DoH) at facility level. During a visit, the team identifies performance gaps and discusses mitigating interventions to improve service delivery with the USAID partner and facility staff. An outbrief meeting to discuss findings and recommendations is held at the end of the week.

Linnetie is one of six Panagora technical experts providing site support via the USAID-funded Technical Support Services (TSS) Activity in nine priority districts in South Africa. She has been supporting USAID partner BroadReach in King Cetshwayo district for over a year, providing monthly calls and in-person visits. She recently received the following feedback:

“Through the calls, she [Linnetie Mugore] would be able to pick up on things that you have been living within the facilities without noticing. The recommendations from Panagora calls are yielding results…Thank you so much for your guidance and coaching, it wasn’t easy though but yes we did close the quarter on a positive TX_NET [a key HIV treatment indicator] through your support.” – BroadReach Cluster Team Lead
