Promoting the Quality of Medicines (PQM+)

Promoting the Quality of Medicines (PQM+)

As a subcontractor to United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), PQM+ strengthens medical product quality assurance (QA) systems in low- and middle-income countries worldwide through cross-sectoral and systems strengthening approaches and the application of international quality assurance standards across the pharmaceutical regulatory system to ensure access to safe, quality-assured medical products for USAID priority health programs. This is essential to strengthening health systems and improving health globally. Panagora leads the PQM+ program’s performance monitoring, reporting, evaluation, learning, and research activities, and supports knowledge management and communications.

Panagora is leading the establishment of a robust and harmonized Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system. The system uses qualitative and quantitative methods to generate accurate, quality, and accessible data. Data from multiple sources are analyzed, triangulated, and used for program improvement at global, regional, and country levels.  This reporting fosters shared learning to promote quality assurance systems strengthening. In addition, we develop and design country Performance Management Plans (PMPs), which capture aggregated and disaggregated information across all technical areas and funding sources to provide a comprehensive overview of PQM+ accomplishments.

PQM+ is supporting Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burma, DRC, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Panama, Pakistan, Rwanda, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
