Panagora Group will be supporting FHI 360 to implement the USAID STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity. Over the next five years, STRIDES will work alongside host-country partners around the world to enhance the capacity of national and subnational laboratory and veterinary networks, as well as surveillance systems. This will include strengthening data collection, analysis, and reporting related to diagnostic services and surveillance to support partner countries to prevent and mitigate the occurrence and severity of epidemics, pandemics, and novel infectious disease threats, in addition to providing critical support during outbreaks.
STRIDES will involve collaboration across public health, veterinary, and environmental health sectors to ensure effective and sustainable capacity-strengthening efforts. Anchored in biosafety and biosecurity technical assistance and oversight, STRIDES key objectives include:
- Strengthening Detection Capacity and Increase Access to Laboratory Services: Enhancing the ability of countries to identify and characterize pathogens of public health importance, addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and improving laboratory networks.
- Developing Sustainable Surveillance Systems: Utilizing real-time data collection to support early warning systems, calculate disease burden, and address risk factors for infectious disease transmission.
- Providing Technical Assistance: Supporting partner countries to build and enhance their data collection and analysis capacity to better protect against infectious disease threats.
- Delivering Targeted Support During Outbreaks: Assisting efforts to address gaps in diagnostic capacity, surveillance and management.
Panagora Group will lead the Knowledge Management, Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting, Private Sector Engagement, and Gender and Social Inclusion areas of work under STRIDES. We look forward to collaborating with USAID, FHI 360, international and local partners in up to 50 countries to enhance global health security.
